Daymaniat Shells
At Daymaniat Shells, protecting the marine environment is at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to announce that we have renewed our Green Fins Digital Membership, reaffirming our commitment to responsible snorkeling and sustainable marine tourism in Oman.
The Daymaniat Islands are one of the country's greatest natural treasures, home to vibrant coral reefs, endangered sea turtles, reef sharks, eagle rays, octopuses, and hundreds of species of marine life. As operators who visit these incredible reefs every day, we believe it is our responsibility to help protect them for future generations.
What is Green Fins?
Green Fins is an internationally recognized initiative that promotes environmentally responsible marine tourism. Established by the United Nations Environment Program(UNEP) and The Reef-World Foundation, Green Fins provides practical guidance, education, and best practices to help dive and snorkel operators reduce their impact on fragile marine ecosystems.
Through the Green Fins Digital Membership, tourism operators receive access to sustainability resources, environmental training, self-assessment tools, and practical actions that help improve day-to-day operations while protecting coral reefs and marine wildlife.
Being a Green Fins Member is more than displaying a logo—it is an ongoing commitment to continually improve environmental practices and encourage positive change throughout the marine tourism industry.
Our Green Fins Values
At Daymaniat Shells, the Green Fins philosophy aligns perfectly with our own values:
Protect Marine Life
Every animal deserves to be observed in its natural environment without disturbance. We educate our guests to never touch, chase, feed, or harass marine life, allowing natural behaviors to continue undisturbed.
Preserve Coral Reefs
Corals are living animals that grow incredibly slowly. Even a single accidental kick from a fin or touch by a hand can damage years of growth. Our guides provide thorough briefings to help guests snorkel responsibly and maintain excellent buoyancy around the reefs.
Educate Through Experience
Every trip is an opportunity to inspire conservation. We believe that people are far more likely to protect what they understand and appreciate. Our guides share fascinating information about the marine life, ecology, and conservation efforts surrounding the Daymaniat Islands.
Reduce Environmental Impact
Sustainability goes beyond the water. We continuously look for ways to reduce waste, minimize single-use plastics, improve recycling practices, and operate our tours as efficiently as possible.
Lead by Example
Responsible tourism starts with us. By following Green Fins recommendations, training our staff, and maintaining high environmental standards, we hope to inspire both our guests and other tourism operators to protect Oman's marine environment.
Why Sustainable Tourism Matters
The Daymaniat Islands Nature Reserve is one of the most important marine protected areas in Oman. Healthy coral reefs provide habitat for countless species, protect coastlines, and support local fisheries and tourism.
As visitor numbers continue to grow, responsible tourism becomes increasingly important. Small actions—such as maintaining distance from wildlife, avoiding contact with corals, properly disposing of waste, and using reef-safe sunscreen where possible—can make a significant difference over time.
When visitors choose operators that priorities sustainability, they contribute directly to the long-term protection of these remarkable ecosystems.
Looking Ahead
Renewing our Green Fins Digital Membership is another step in our ongoing sustainability journey. We are committed to continuously improving our environmental practices, educating our guests, and supporting marine conservation initiatives throughout Oman.
Every snorkeling trip offers the chance not only to experience the beauty of the Daymaniat Islands but also to become part of their conservation story.
We would like to thank all our guests who respect the ocean, follow responsible snorkeling practices, and share our passion for protecting the incredible marine life that makes the Daymaniat Islands so special.
Together, we can ensure these reefs remain healthy, vibrant, and full of life for generations to come.
We look forward to welcoming you on board—and together, let's leave nothing behind but bubbles and take home nothing but unforgettable memories.
